Jose Miguel Mora Jr's Obituary
Jose Miguel Mora, Jr., age 47, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2026, in Oakland, California. Born on August 25, 1978, in San Francisco, Jose grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture, diversity, and community spirit of the city he would one day serve with unwavering dedication.
For over 17 years, Jose honorably served as a police officer with the San Francisco Police Department. He was known among colleagues and community members alike for his calm strength, genuine compassion, and steadfast commitment to protecting others. Jose possessed a true servant’s heart—approaching every interaction with kindness, humility, and a deep respect for the people he encountered. His work was more than a career; it was a calling rooted in love for his city and the belief that every person deserves dignity, safety, and understanding.
Jose’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, his cherished children, and an extended family whose lives are forever enriched by his presence, laughter, and unwavering devotion. To his family, Jose was a steady anchor—gentle, selfless, and endlessly supportive. His love for them was evident in everything he did.
Jose was a kid a heart. He played video games on his day off and watched cartoons. He was someone who put family first and just wanted to be around family and have a good time. He was a pillar of strength and courage. He was someone who was always there to help , someone you can depend on for anything , and he had lots of wisdom, anything from a quick witty comeback to guidance in any problems life will throw at you. He was self disciplined, and education was always very important to him. Jose was always into sports , from playing them himself to being a big 49ers fan since he was 4. He was so happy to become a season ticket holder back in the candlestick days til today. Hoping he would have been able to see a superbowl. He took pride in all his work and accomplishments.
He will also be profoundly missed by his brothers and sisters in blue, who remember him as a loyal friend, a trusted partner, and a courageous officer whose integrity set an example for all. His legacy of service and compassion will live on in the countless lives he touched throughout his career and personal life.
Jose’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the memories he created—his warmth, his humor, his dedication—will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the gratitude of the community he served and the love of those who will carry his memory forward.
