Jose Jesse Fortune Bets' Obituary
Jose Jesse F. Bets, simply known as Jesse, and affectionately known as Papa, peacefully passed away at home on November 10, 2023. He was born in Manila, Philippines on October 26, 1947. He was lovingly cared for by his family throughout his illness. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Muriel; his son and daughter in law, Jesse Jr. and Fay; and his daughter and son in law, Jesselee and Darryl. He is also survived by his five grandchildren - Jordan, Jalen, Justyne, Devyn, and Rylee. Jesse had been an affectionate and very caring person who showed his love in a unique way to his family and friends. He cherished every act of thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness given to him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
Jesse worked hard to raise his family until he retired at the age of 62 years. He was into sports since his younger days and was an exceptional basketball player. He made a career out of his basketball talent and technical knowledge as an amateur basketball referee in Manila. He officiated various school and provincial tournaments and particularly with the popular, most watched tv games in the Philippines held by MICAA (Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association) between colleges, universities, and companies. When Jesse migrated to California with his family, he became a die hard fan of the Golden State Warriors and the Forty Niners. He watched every game and wore his collection of team shirts, jackets, hats, and even socks with their logo. But the activity of leisure he enjoyed most was going to the casino with his wife where he had been lucky at times.
Jesse had lived a full life in 76 years. He accomplished his goals as a family man, a caring friend, and a conscientious worker in all the jobs he had. Jesse leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
May Jesse’s soul find eternal peace with God. May perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.
