JOSE GARCIA AMADOR's Obituary
Jose Garcia Amador August 26, 1943 – June 2, 2018 Resident of Hayward, California Our beloved father peacefully passed away on Saturday June 2, 2018, surrounded by his children and grandchildren at his home in Hayward. He was born August 26, 1943 in Alvarado, California to Severiano L. Amador and Florencia G. Amador. Jose was raised in Hayward with his five brothers and two sisters. He had a hard life working in the fields, picking whatever fruits and vegetables were in season. This would be the foundation for his exceptional work ethic – always believing in working for yours. His motto was, “you gotta do what you gotta do,” and he did do what he had to do to provide a good life for his family. He stayed in the area making Hayward his home. In his younger years, he liked to lift weights and work on his cars. He could never have just a regular car. He had to “paint this,” “chrome that,” “pinstripe this.” He loved turning cars into a ride. His ride. However fancy or simple, it was his ride. He worked for companies like Caterpillar Tractor and Harbor Universal, working most of his career as a painter. Dad was a proud union man, retiring from the I.A.M. Machinist Union Local 1546. Even though dad could buy and do whatever he wanted, he always choose people over money. His richness was in the simplicity of talking and laughing with friends and family. He loved people and people loved him. Not only was he a cool guy to be around, he genuinely cared and would help anyone at the drop of a dime. If you needed something, he was there. He took care of business. You knew when Uncle Joe showed up, everything was going to be alright. He was solid like that; very reliable. There was never any, “we’ll do it later,” with dad, but after the work was done, it was time to relax and socialize. He was a huge movie buff. He watched everything. From war films to sci-fi to drama, even “chick flicks.” But it wasn’t the movie that was important to him, it was whoever he was watching it with. He also loved his music; he could listen to Norteno music and oldies for hours. He liked to get out and take walks by the creek near his place or to the flea market, even festivals. He liked the crowds, the people. Dad would always greet you with a smile and one of his trademark sayings. Depending on who you were, it was your own personal saying, giving you your own personal interaction with him; and we would smile back because he made us all feel special and welcome. Even in a crowd, you could feel his kindheartedness. It’s what made you aware that you were in the presence of Uncle Joe, or just, Joe. The simplest things in life were all my dad needed to be happy. He loved to talk and laugh with everyone because he knew that time spent together is what mattered most. Jose is survived by his 3 children: Lenora Jackson of Wesley, Eva Amador of Stockton and Jose Amador Jr of Hayward; as well as his daughter in law Sylvia, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his brothers Frank Amador of Fremont, Delfino Amador of Modesto and his sister Mickey Amador of Hayward. He is predeceased by his parents Severiano and Florencia Amador, his brothers Richard Amador and Jesus Amador; as well as his sister Mary Munoz. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, in laws – anyone who ever came into contact with him. Because to know him, was to love him. Farewell pop.
