Jonnye Rose Miller's Obituary
Jonnye Rose Miller, May 20, 12 after a courageous battled with heart disease. She was born in Smith County, Mississippi on June 8, 1935. The oldest of 3 siblings, they were orphaned when she was 7 years old. As a result all 3 of them grew up on their grandmother's farm. After graduating early from high school she moved into town on her own. It was there that she met and eventually married Howard Miller May 15, 1955. Afterwards they moved to Oakland, Ca and eventually settled in Fremont where they raised their 2 daughters. A stay at home mother, she didn't work until her girls were almost out of school. She worked for the New Haven Unified School District for 26 years and reited in 2000. She had already lost Howard in 1990 after 35 years of marriage. After growing up with very little, she took nothing for granted. She appreciated even the smallest acts of kindness. Some of the things that rough her joy during her life were animals, gardening & flowers, gospel music, fashion and shopping on QVC. For years she spent Saturday mornings volunteering as a bowling coach for the Pee Wee League. She was happiest at home; surrounded by her 'Pretty Things' and her loved ones all who knew her loved her sweetness and kind heart. She leaves behind daughters, Janice Murphy and Susan Dickerson, son-in-law Danny Dickerson, granddaughter Whitney Duenez and great grandson Dominic Duenez, her beloved sister Nancy White and many nieces and nephews. The Family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful physicians and staff at Washington Hospital. A special thanks to the nursing staff of the ICU- CCu. Their compassion, skill, support and professionalism not only provided Jonnye with comfort, but her family as well. They never gave up on her and for that we will be eternally grateful. This special little lady, our mom, may be out of our sight, but never our hearts. We will miss her and adore her always. At her request, there will be no services but a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
