Jon Stark Miller's Obituary
On the afternoon of January 21, 2021, Jon Miller passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was 78 years of age.
Jon had a passion for model trains. Over the years he made countless friends attending conventions, Saturday lunches, and meets and was a life member of the National Model Railroad Association for over 45 years. He also belonged to the Santa Fe Historical and Modeling Society. Many knew him by the signature hat he wore and his quote. "For me time stopped in 1941." Up till near the end, he was a very active member of many online train discussion groups.
Early retirement allowed Jon to spend more time at the domes he had built in his younger years. He raised chickens and goats and enjoyed the occasional tractor ride in the backyard. He even kept himself busy building a second train layout in the attic. Every year without fail, we always celebrated Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family that could make the drive.
He will forever be loved and missed.
Jon is survived by his daughter Stephanie, who lives in Fremont, CA.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
At this time, we ask that no flowers be sent. Instead, to honor Jon’s love for model trains and Siamese cats, please consider making a donation to a model railroading association/society or an animal rescue/shelter.
To ensure the health and safety of our community, we are following all guidelines set by local, state and CDC officials. If you are planning on attending a service, please contact the funeral home in advance, so that we can plan accordingly.
