John Quiroz's Obituary
Loving Father, Grandpa, Papa, Brother, Tio, Cousin, and Friend died peacefully on February 5, 2019. Raised in Decoto and a current resident of San Leandro, John was a proud veteran of the Army who served in the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment 82D Airborne Division. He served in the Korean War as a paratrooper. He loved to gamble, watch all Oakland sports teams especially the Oakland Raiders and enjoyed going to the movies. He was known as a great teller of jokes and never missed a family party.Survived by his sister Beatrice Lopez, brother Daniel Romero(Josie), son John Quiroz Jr(Esperanza), daughters Yvonne Matheny(Robert), Lisa Russell(Les), Nadine Quiroz(Charles), grandchildren Angela Quiroz, Amanda Schmit(Johnathan), Robert Matheny, Natalie Matheny, Jordan Nelson, great grandchidlren Chance Garland, Jayden Garland, Nathan Schmit, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah Quiroz, daughter Natalie Quiroz, mother Manuela “Nellie” Quiroz, brothers Ygnacio Quiroz and William Gomez.
