John Ernest Mulcock's Obituary
John Ernest Mulcock Born October 11, 1946 Died September 18, 2013John was the first born of Warren Ernest Mulcock and Maude Joan Birkinshaw. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. At a young age, his mother tragically passed away in a car accident. Soon after, his father remarried his new mom Shirley Ann Thompson. His family grew to include all his brothers and sisters: Margaret, Steve, Tom, Rosemary and Marilyn. His childhood consisted of many hours riding horses with his grandpa, climbing trees, building forts, skiing and building go carts. When he was 17 he joined the army and was stationed in Hawaii where he served as a mechanic. While servicing a tank, he was injured and was medically discharged. He followed a girl to California and there he began what would be the rest of his life. At the young age of 20, he married Carol Logan. Soon after becoming a husband, he became a father. His life dramatically changed. He went from a party animal to a clean cut responsible father. John was a hard worker and took on several jobs to provide for his new family. Simultaneously, he attended San Jose State University graduating with an Industrial Technology major. He pursued the path of engineering and was a mechanical engineer for approximately 25 years, working for companies such as FMC, IBM and Lam Research. He divorced in 1982 and soon after met his new love, Margaret Barker. They were married in 2000. His family expanded with his new marriage as he gained two new daughters, Sabrina and Tabitha. He and Margaret were soul-mates. They loved hard work and enjoyed countless good times and adventures. They shared a love for riding Harleys. John was the best dad. He took the time to advise, care, instruct and love. He was an active part of his children’s lives. In his instruction, he was as interested in the process as he was in the end result. The interest in the process, showed how much he cared because it was during those times that relationships were deepened. John and Margaret also shared a love for their grandchildren: Josiah, Evan, Logan, Tyler, Sarah and Caleb. He was the best grandpa! He loved his grandkids with a passion. He was very active in their lives and was always planning the next adventure or teaching opportunity. He spent time with them playing, wrestling, camping, fishing and assisting in school work. John had a passion for investing and “making his money work for him”. Honesty, integrity and relationships were of utmost importance to him. He lived by the golden rule, to treat others the way that he would like to be treated. As he managed his properties in a very hand-on way, he was always thoughtful and careful to provide quality care to each of his tenants. As a result, he formed many deep and lasting relationships with his tenants. John had a passion for riding his Harley. He seldom tired of “being in the saddle”. His next ride was always on his mind. He rode his Harley all over the United States and even went riding in Europe. He loved HOG (Harley Owners Group). He enjoyed the organization, holding several offices, including director. Although he enjoyed the organization, he loved the people. He formed deep lasting relationships with his biking buddies. It was a brotherhood for him. He was loyal and experienced loyalty from them. John lived life to its fullest! He loved life! He was a dedicated, loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife, Margaret, his children, Jonathan (wife Susie), Tabitha (husband Keith), Sabrina (husband Bryan), his grandchildren, Josiah, Evan, Logan, Tyler, Sarah and Caleb, his brothers, Steve and Tom and his sisters, Margaret, Rosemary and Marilyn. He has departed to be with the LORD and in a moment in the twinkling of an eye, we will join him in the great celestial celebration!!
