John H. Mayberry's Obituary
John Henry Mayberry, 90 years of age, passed away March 2, 2019 at his residence, The Sunol Creek Memory Care Center.He was born on August 15, 1928, in Yuba City, Calif. to his parents, Herbert A Mayberry and Loraine V.(Littlefield) Mayberry.He graduated from Hayward High School, Hayward, Calif. where he also excelled in sports.John went to work for Hayward’s Leonard Nunes Cadillac Dealership and quickly became the parts manager, working under five owners over forty five years.On June 14, 1953 he married the former, Miss Shirley J. Dittberner.John was a devoted, honorable and dedicated son, sibling, husband, father, and friend. He served his country during the Korean conflict; was active in several civic and sports organization, including started playing football with The Hayward Raiders.Preceding him in death was his love, Shirley, his wife of over 54 years and son, “JJ” John Jr.He is survived by his devoted daughter Robin Lynn, who along with her husband, Jerry Wood, tucked him under their wings during his retirement years. He is also survived by his Grandson, Lance B. Mayberry and siblings; Dolores (Mayberry) Wiles, Lenore (Mayberry) Dias, Herbert A. Mayberry, Jr., Jack L. Mayberry and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes on Mission Blvd. in South Hayward.Visitation: Thursday, March 7th–Family 4:30 pm, Public 5:00 pm–8:30 pmFuneral: Friday, March 8th–10:00 am
