John Foster's Obituary
John Foster 4th Generation Californian WWII Veteran May 23rd, 1919 – December 22nd, 2015Mr. Foster passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving dog Mitzey, his son Jon, and partner Ed of 25 years. He was at his home of twenty years in Santa Rosa.An infantryman in WWII, he was a decorated veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. He serviced 1 year, 6 months, 15 days in the military.Mr. Foster leaves behind one daughter, one son, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was a beloved neighbor in Santa Rosa, and his Beer Club will miss him greatly.He was an accomplished stained glass artisan, doing both installation and restoration. He apprenticed at the Stanford University Chapel and ended his career there in 1989 after the Loma Prieta earthquake. He had worked up and down the western United States on notable examples such as Grace Cathedral and St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco, All Saints Church in Fremont and St. Edward’s Church in Newark.He will be missed.
