JOHN 'ERNIE' CORDOVA, JR.At age 54, a resident of Newark, California passed away on Friday, July 5, 2002. He was born on September 13, 1947 in San Mateo, California. He was the Grounds Supervisor at Newark Unified School District. Ernie also served in the U.S. Army.Ernie loved his family, friends, fishing, and the 49' ers and was also known for his famous BBQ's. Friends and family were at his house every weekend. He always strived to do the best he could in anything he did and to lend a helping hand. His absence in the Cordova family will be greatly felt by all that knew him.Ernie is survived by his beloved wife, beloved Kathy Cordova and his loving children, Tina L. Cordova-Norman and Jessica Ann Cordova. Son-in-law, Stanford R. Norman and two grandsons, Donovan John & Trevor James Cordova-Norman and an Ex-wife, Rhonda Bodas. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Benny Cordova, Joey Cordova, Louise Davila, Helen Cordova, Patsy Vasquez and Stella Cordova. He is survived by his dear brother-in-law and fishing buddy, Mike Vasquez. He has precious Godchildren, Michelle Vasquez and Erik Hernandez. He also leaves 10 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Juan E. Sr. & Estella Cordova.A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 12, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church: 5788 Thornton Avenue, Newark, CA 94560.
