Joel Cota Arellano Sr., 79, of Castro Valley, passed away Friday August 23rd, 2019.He was born in Russel City, CA on June 2nd, 1940. He was married to Virginia Armenta Arellano on January 30th, 1971.Joel had a career as a Maintenance Foreman for Castro Valley Sanitary District. He was an enrolled member of The Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Francisco Bay Area and had a passion for taking care of his home and tending to his yard.He is survived by his children: Donna Granzow, Evelyn Drennan, Monica V. Arellano and Gloria Gomez.His grandchildren: Julie Weber, Ronnie Rose, Roshawn Rose, Ricky Diaz, Tino Diaz, Chris Drennan, Joshua Arellano, Nicole Drennan, Isabella Gomez, Lucas Arellano and Georgiana Gomez and his 14 great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Lydia Sustaita, Ismael Arellano, Samuel Arellano, Edwina Tarrant, Rose Mary Ferral, Grace Lehutsky and Raul Nava.
