Joanne T. McDowell's Obituary
Joanne T. McDowell was escorted to heaven by angels on July 31, 2023, surrounded by her 3 children, Deborah Callier (Rick), Gary Cox (Kathy), and Greg Cox. Born on May 11, 1934 to William and Emma Azzolino. She is survived by her sister, Rosanne Brown. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard McDowell, her brothers Joseph and William Azzolino, and her sister Elizabeth Vierra. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and more recent friends, all of whom she loved very much, and was loved in return. She was the "go to" person who would not only give advice if asked, but also she would just listen if that was what was needed. She was a very strong woman, with a great faith in God. She had a kind heart and giving spirit, which will be sorely missed by so many. One of her favorite things to do was have big family gathering, where she and her sister Rosanne would cook delicious meals, with so much food that there would always be enough for everyone to take some home. Joanne impacted so many lives in a loving, positive way. She was always ready to welcome family and friends who needed a soft spot to land. The viewing will be on August 17 from 5-8 PM, and the funeral will be on August 18, starting at noon, at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA
