Jesus Velasco Dimaya's Obituary
Jesus Velasco Dimaya, loving husband, father and grandfather peacefully passed away at age 85 on Sunday, March 22, 2020.
Jesus was born on December 24, 1934 in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines. Before joining the US Navy he worked at Koppel Philippines for 7 years as a Bookkeeper. Jesus enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 where he served for 20 years. During his time he was able to serve and travel the world. He was very devoted in supporting his younger siblings in the Philippines and continued to strive to be a provider to his family.
Jesus married his wife Emiliana Balmocena Valdez on January 28, 1967. They raised two children in their 53 years of marriage. They were both from the same province in Philippines. Jesus and Emiliana moved to Oahu, Hawaii where they lived for 10 years, where the children were both born. Jesus and Emiliana moved to Sunnyvale, California where he retired from the US Navy.
Jesus was a loving, generous, and faithful man that put his love for God and his family first before himself. He worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier, Lockheed in the maintenance department, then finished his working career at Santa Clara Housing Authority where he maintained the apartment units on site, where he was well loved by the residents. Soon after his first grandchild was born, Jesus retired so that he could spend time with his growing family. He loved being a grandparent, it brought him much joy.
He enjoyed the simple things in life as long as he knew his wife and family were taken care of. Jesus was an active member in the church and was very involved with the Men’s ministry. Jesus loved fishing, loved music and dancing. Jesus and his wife would light up the dance floor especially when it was Tango or Cha-Cha music. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s milestones in life: graduations, job promotions and weddings. He found most proud when he became a grandparent. He was a generous, loving and faithful man. He was well loved and cherished.
He survived by his wife, Emiliana his two children, Jemil and Rachelle, his siblings, Letty, Reny, Lita, Nelda and Tessie, and grandchildren, Jessica, Jaden, Jared and Theron.
For the immediate family there will be a viewing on April 17 at 5pm and small funeral service held on April 18 at 10am, at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward.
