Jess was a little league secretary in 1968. Director of California Jaycee's. Donated time and gathered donations for the first little league ball field in Livermore. He worked as a car salesman, carpet layer and as a truck driver for Hadley auto transport in Benicia. He also worked for Xpedex packaging in Hayward. Loving father of Julie Eileen Smith and William Ralph Smith of Lakeport, California.
