Jerry Walker's Obituary
Jerry Lee Walker age 79 of Lathrop, California graduated to heaven from the comfort of his own home on Monday, November 4th. Jerry was born on August 25, 1940 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Arnie, of 58 years; daughters, Debbie Sopko, Wendy Walker, Jerilynn Walker, and Julie Anne Rubio. He has four grandchildren, Brandy Cantu, Troy Williams, Eryka Rubio, Karisa Rubio and many loving great-grandchildren.Jerry began his apprenticeship as a carpenter in 1957. He became an union carpenter thereafter. He worked on several buildings and hotels in San Francisco and off and on at the Claremont Resort and Spa for about 25 years. He retired after 50 years in 2008.Jerry was a faithful member of the Missionary Baptist Church located in Hayward, California for over 50 years. He was ordained as a deacon on January 31, 1987. He was always willing to serve the LORD and served in other positions in the church.Jerry spent his honeymoon at Disneyland in 1961 and returned at least once a year. Along with loving Disneyland, he loved watching baseball, specifically the San Francisco Giants, and Nascar racing.He was a very special man and will be missed so very much! He is in a place where there is no pain, tears nor anxiety.Visitation will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:30 am with services at 12:30 pm. The grave site service will be held at 2:00 pm.
