Jayne "Grandma" Smith's Obituary
Jayne E. Smith, “GRANDMA” Nov. 2, 1935-Dec. 21, 2008 Our beloved “Grandma”, Jayne E. Smith entered the Gates of Heaven on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008. Jayne had a long career in the funeral industry, serving 11 years at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Hayward and an additional 10 years at Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced. She was truly a grandma to all whom she encountered. Her compassion and caring were legendary. She never forgot a face or a name, she always knew the right words to say and took the time to say them. She will be deeply missed by her girl, Cindy Lewis; her two sons , Steven Ray Smith (Cindy June), and Thomas Ellis Smith (Jayca); grandchildren, Trevor Anthony Veizer, Bridget Leigh Smith, Thomas Ellis Jr. (T.J.), Brian Thomas Tobin, and Michael Steven Tobin; her loving church family at Church of All Nations to whom she was deeply devoted; all her friends and co-workers at Lifemark Group, Chapel of the Chimes; and last but not least, her four-legged, tail-wagging, Bear. The emptiness of our hearts will be filled with the wonderful memories she left, and the assurance that we will meet again. We will gather to celebrate her life on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at 1:30 pm in the Mission Chapel at CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES MEMORIAL PARK AND FUNERAL HOME, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA.
