Jason Wong's Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy heart to announce that Jason Wong passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 28. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace, his sons, Darrin, Anson, Kermit, his grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, Connor, Zandor, his brother Fay, his sister Mye and many nieces and nephews.Jason was born in China and moved to the United States when he was 14. Here, he built a life for himself and his family. He worked hard and, though he often didn’t say it, demonstrated that we could achieve anything as long as we worked for it. He often told us that nothing was free in life.As a longtime resident of Union City, Jason was a man of simple needs. He often preferred the taste of Mom’s cooking instead of a restaurant and the comforts of home instead of a trip to a far away place. He was a great father, grandfather and uncle. You couldn’t always see it, but he often had a way of making people happy with his infectious smile and laugh.Outside of work and family, he only had a few other loves in his life; his backyard garden, the animals that visited his garden and horse racing. He loved all those things equally. If you stepped in the backyard, one could see that it is filled with vegetables and fruits. His tomatoes are so sweet, they can be eaten like an apple. He would also feed all the birds and squirrels that frequented his garden. They were his friends. And horse racing, that was a passion that we can remember from our earliest years. He never told us whether he won or lost. He’d always say “I broke even”. But we suspect he did okay or else Mom would not have let him go back all those years. We are comforted that he is now in heaven with God and reunited with his mother, father, sister and his beloved dog, Buddy.Services will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward on Sunday, November 12th at 10:00 am.We love you Dad and will always cherish the memories.
