Jar-Lon Lee's Obituary
Dr. Jar-Lon Lee, 55Dr. Jar-Lon “J.J.” Lee (李家龍), 55, of Cupertino, CA, passed away in his sleep surrounded by family on September 11, 2013. This was his second battle with cancer (he beat his first cancer 14 years ago). Jar-Lon was born in 1958 in Taipei, Taiwan and graduated from National Chiao-Tung University in Hsinchu City in 1980. In 1982, he married Su-Mei Lee, whom he met seven years prior at high school math camp. He earned his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Madison, Wisconsin in 1988.Jar-Lon was passionate about developing innovative ideas and new technologies; he worked in the wireless communications industry for 20+ years in co-founder, VP, and electrical engineering roles. In the early 1990s he designed amplifier chips for Texas Instruments, which are still sold and used industry-wide today. He also designed wireless chips used in a variety of communication devices. His favorite pastimes were reading the newspaper, spending time with family, and taking walks through local parks on the weekends. He also enjoyed playing basketball and going on annual camping trips to Lake Tahoe to enjoy the large sequoia forests. Jar-Lon loved storytelling, discussing the latest news and technology trends, and sharing words of wisdom with friends and family. He led a wonderful life, and will be missed by so many who loved him.Jar-Lon was a loving husband, proud father, brilliant engineer, and loyal friend to all. Jar-Lon is survived by his wife Su-Mei of 31 years, daughter Christine, son Steven, brothers and sisters, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 10:15am until 12:15pm at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward (in the Reflection Chapel). Jar-Lon will be laid to rest at the Grand View Mausoleum in a private ceremony. In lieu of monetary donations, the family would appreciate flowers brought to the service.
