Janet Laverne Whitaker's Obituary
Janet Laverne Whitaker was born in Oakland, California on December 6, 1934 to Pink and Dorothy Roberts. She was an Oakland resident throughout her youth, attending school at Edwin Markham Elementary and Frick Junior High, and graduating from Fremont High School.In March of 1951 Janet married James Richard Whitaker and together they started a family. In addition to raising four children, Janet also enjoyed her career as a cafeteria worker at Canyon Middle School in the Castro Valley School District. She had a passion for family, life and church, and was a member of New Bridges Presbyterian Church.Janet was a loving mother to Kathy, Rick, Carol and Becky, adoring grandmother to Michele, Christine, Jesse, Tyler, Erica, Danielle and Nick, and was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren. She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.Services will be held on January 2, 2019 in the Mission Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Hayward, CA.
