Dear my Smilley Girl! I found out today of your sudden passing. Oh how my heart hurts!! I’m so thankful for the time we had together. Happy to have been your teacher! i was so saddened to hear about jamie’s passing. we were incredibly close during our childhood and even though life eventually pulled us in different directions, i’ve thought about her often and had hoped to reconnect one day.
one of my favorite memories is the time she almost convinced me to do a school talent show with her even though i couldn’t sing to save my life. she, on the other hand, could. she was full of confidence, charm, and charisma and was funny, bold, and magnetic.
every morning before elementary school i’d walk over to her house and we’d get ready together with a couple of our friends. we were inseparable for a time and those moments still mean a lot to me.

Jamie was a light that burned brightly, even in life’s darkest corners. At just 25 years old, she filled the world around her with warmth, laughter, and unmistakable energy. She was lively, extroverted, and endlessly loving—a person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like they mattered.
Jamie had a gift for connection. Whether at a party, walking on the beach, or simply passing someone on the street, she had a way of making people feel seen and heard. Socializing wasn’t just something Jamie enjoyed—it was how she lived. She thrived on meaningful moments with others and had an unmatched ability to bring people together.
She was also deeply compassionate, especially in her work with children with special needs. Her heart was open, and her care for others went far beyond words. Jamie believed in possibility—in the potential of people, in second chances, and in the idea that everyone deserves to be loved and supported.
Outdoors was one of her happy places. Whether hiking, swimming as she loved to do as a child, or just soaking up the sun, Jamie carried a joyful spirit wherever she went. A slice of pizza by the beach? That was her kind of perfect day.
Jamie faced many challenges in her life, but what made her remarkable was her resilience. She didn’t let setbacks define her. Jamie was always this silly, full of energy, beautiful-hearted girl. I remember when I first moved to the country, so shy I wouldn’t even leave my room. But Jamie was the one who got me to come out. There was some kind of gathering that day, and she offered me a slice of cake. Just like that, she made me feel like I belonged.
She reminds me of rainbows and confetti- bright, vibrant, and full of life.
I’ll never forget our summer memories when I lived in California - trips to Santa Cruz and going to every event under the sun with my little sisters, Alexis and Ashley. From church gatherings to local festivals, swim meets to weekend hangouts, Jamie was always the light, laughing the loudest, dancing the wildest, and making every moment feel special.
