James D. Callahan a Castro Valley, California resident entered into rest Tuesday, January 15, 2002 in Castro Valley. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 4, 1920, he was 81 years of age. He was a resident of Danville for 5 years and of Oakland from age 18. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco and from U.C. Berkeley. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the 100 Club of Alameda County. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired as Chief Probation Officer after 35 years with the County of Alameda. James enjoyed horse races, football games (49ers) and poker parties.Dearly beloved husband of Margaret H. Callahan for 51 years. Loving father of Linda Allen of San Jose, Nancy Wenck of Orinda, Scott Callahan of Los Gatos and Mike Callahan of Pleasanton. Dear brother of Ladonna Stoppel of Berkeley. Devoted grandfather of ten grandchildren.Friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life service Friday, January 25, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Willow Park Country Club, 17007 Redwood Road, Castro Valley, CA.The family wishes for donations to be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
