Jaime Cabana Rivera's Obituary
Jaime Cabaña Rivera was born on July 7, 1946 in Ternate, Cavite Philippines to Dalmacio and Canuta Cabaña. He was one of 16 children.
Shortly after graduating from Cavite High School in Cavite Philippines, Jaime enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1965, Jaime migrated to the United States via the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Long Beach, Calif. serving as a stock clerk. During his enlistment, he also served on the USS Passumpsic during the Vietnam War and was assigned in Vietnam. Jaime completed the remainder of his military service in Moffit Field, Calif.
Through a mutual friend, Rod Quemuel, Jaime was introduced to Rosalinda ("Rose") Palma from Kawit, Cavite Philippines, and on November 29, 1975, surrounded by their family and friends, Jaime and Rose were married at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fremont, Calif. The two settled in Union City, Calif. On February 22, 1977, the couple brought into this world their first-born daughter, Gina Melynn. On January 3, 1980, Janice Jean was born followed by their third and youngest child, Jamie Rosalind, born July 29, 1982.
Jaime continued federal employment with the U.S. Postal Service in the San Francisco Bay Area having served as a postal clerk and was responsible for handling/sorting postal packages. Jaime retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2003, after more than 20+ years.
In addition to his federal service, Jaime was also a successful entrepreneur having established multiple family-owned businesses to include: We Care Nursing Registry in 1986, Green Oak Developmental Center in 2002, and most recently, River Oak Residential Care Home located in Hayward, Calif.
Aside from spending time with loved ones, Jaime shared his love of music as he enjoyed singing in social gatherings. He was also an active visitor of the horse races and thoroughly enjoyed researching and studying the racing statistics of those horses he was interested in. Most recently, Jaime became a self-taught investor in stocks, while having monitored his own personal portfolio, and was consistent with checking the financial markets daily. He was also an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting new destinations with family and friends. His most favorite past-time, was spending time with and creating a memorable life together with his love, Rose.
Jaime Cabaña Rivera died in San Francisco, Calif. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife, Rosalinda; daughters, Gina Melynn, Janice Jean (Ray Lapuz), and Jamie Rosalind (Dwight Vallestero); son-in-law, Romie; grandchildren, Brielle, Rochelle, Roelle, Maczine Alana, Kiera Sophia, Darren James, and Jeremy Daniel; and several siblings. He is preceded in death by daughter, Elsie Dimalanta.
