Jackie Dan Heard Resident of Hayward Oct. 14, 1935 – Sept. 21, 2011 Jackie Dan Heard passed away September 21, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family including his wife and three daughters and three of his grandchildren. Jackie was born October 14, 1935 in Leola, Arkansas. He proudly served our country in two branches of service; US Air Force from 1954 to 1962 and the US Coast Guard from 1963 to 1975. His career after 1975 took him to a position at the Department of Transportation and finally to part time work with the Hayward Unified School District. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, walking his dogs and cheering on the A’s and 49rs. Jackie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia, his three daughters, Cherylyn Van Sloten, Eileen Beilke and Lori Heard, grandchildren, Chad Costa, Shane Costa, Nina Van Sloten, Holly Pfeifer, A.J. Pfeifer, Jesse Beilke and Sean Beilke and three siblings Betty Mullins, Waymon Heard, and Judith Sanford. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at the family home on Saturday, October 1, at 3 p.m. Please call 925-209-4480 for information.
