Jack William Bishop's Obituary
Jack William Bishop was born in Oakland California to William and Frances Bishop.
Jack graduated in 1967 from Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo CA. He was a starter on the varsity football team and was the drummer in a garage band called The Legends. He went on to attend Chabot College in Hayward CA. It was there that he met Landa during a theatre production and they soon fell in love.
With the Vietnam War going on, Jack joined the Navy with his cousin Bobby. Jack served aboard a destroyer, the USS Buck, for 2 years.
Upon the end of his active service, Jack returned home to marry Landa. Little did Jack know how tightly knit the Vigil and Bishop clans would become because soon it was a double wedding. Jack Bishop married Landa Vigil and Debbie Bishop married Dan Vigil.
Jack found his calling at Chabot College, as one of their trusted Campus Security Officers. He served faithfully at Chabot College for 28 years. Jack was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Fremont. Here he participated in all charitable activities that supported our nation’s Veterans. Jack loved to play Shuffle Board, billiards, bocce ball, darts and Liar’s Dice.
Jack could talk to anyone. Very outgoing and friendly. He loved all of his family members to his very core. Jack lived life to its fullest, surrounded by those who loved him the most.
Jack leaves behind to cherish his memories: his loving wife Landa, son James, daughter Leah, two beloved grandchildren Simone and Sigyn, and siblings Sharyan and Debbie, along with a host of other family members and friends.
