Isidro Romero's Obituary
PAPA DRENG to everyone will always be remembered by his smiling face even when he was not smiling he looked like he was with his high cheek bones, his kicking foot when he listened to his favorite music. He made a great family and the love he had for MAMA ELVIE and all of us was the sweetest and it’s the kind of love everyone wishes they had at least once in their lifetime! He used to work at the Manila Blue Print as a messenger and then quit to start his own manually operated tricycle not as a business first but just to bring his children of 4 to Espiritu Santo Parochial School. Neighbors got wind of what he was doing and requested Papa to bring their kids also to school and back to their respective homes for a fee. It became a business that grew that also he used when it rained and flooded the area to bring many passengers to their residence. Papa and Mama decided to buy a 15-seater Sarao jeepney to be used as a school bus with him becoming a school bus operator and adding another school bus later on. When his first son, Eddie got married in 1978 and started his own family, Papa and Mama became weekdays parents and the real parents became weekend baby sitters. They were both excellent in taking of care of their grandkids. He decided to sell both vehicles to go to Cologne, Germany to be with our youngest sister, Grace when she gave birth to Tanja in 1991. They migrated to the US in 1992 to be with us here arriving in Los Angeles and stayed with me for almost six (6) months and went to permanently stay in Northern California to be with his second son, Gil whose wife then was about to deliver their first child. They moved to San Ramon in 2006. It could have been a fairytale story but then he fell ill after an accidental fall in October, 2015. He was determined to get back on his feet and drive his car again. Unfortunately, he was not able to recover and gave his last breathe in the morning of 9:47 after receiving the last sacrament of Extreme Unction on May 6, 2018 a few days short of his 94th birthday.According to his first grandson, Eddard, Papa loves basketball by choice and TFC (The Filipino Channel) by chance……Papa Dreng’s favorite sport was basketball but Mama Elvie is TFC, so Papa Dreng had no choice but to watch TFC all day long!!!!! Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service in Isidro’s honor on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Homes, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m.
