Ines Matilde Irizarry's Obituary
Ines Matilde Irizarry (Pituca), of Hayward, CA, passed away on Sept. 19th. She was born on March 3, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. Ines welcomed her first son, Jose; she later joyfully completed her family with sons Paul and Matthew. She shared 54 years of marriage with her husband, Jose - a partnership marked by devotion and resilience. Ines studied Welding before the family settled in Hayward, California, where she discovered her calling in Education. What began as volunteering at her sons’ school became a 31-year career at Ruus Elementary as a Bilingual Para-Educator in Special Education. She supported generations of students and became a trusted presence in countless families’ lives. Proudly Puerto Rican and known for her vibrant style, Ines loved her jewelry and her favorite colors, green and mauve. She cherished her close bond with her sisters, Carmen and Olga, and her brother, Augusto. To many she was a mentor and friend; to her family, she was a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering love. Ines is survived by her husband, Jose; her sons, Jose, Paul, and Matthew; her grandchildren; Xavier, Jayson, Isaiah, Vanessa and Eliana, her siblings, Carmen, Olga and Augusto; and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. Services will be held at St. Bede’s on October 16th from 11am - 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Jude.“Siempre en nuestros corazones. Te amamos para siempre.”
