Ilona Stutchman-Brooks' Obituary
December 4, 1940 ' April 8, 2013 Ilona Stutchman-Brooks passed away peacefully at her home in Livermore following her battle against cancer. Ilona, the daughter of Karl and Elisabeth Klix, was born and raised in Germany. She studied French and English during her college years in Lyon, France. Ilona moved back to Frankfurt and worked in an American library where she met her husband, Jack Stutchman. They married in Frankfurt in 1962 and shortly thereafter she joined Jack in the US. They raised their three children in Dublin, CA until Jack succumbed to cancer in 1985. She married John Brooks of Livermore in 1998. Ilona worked many years for Wells Fargo before retiring in 1999. Ilona loved the outdoors, hiking, scuba diving, photographing and traveling. Ilona, known for her beautiful smile, touched many lives with her love, tenderness, giving spirit, and her strong faith in God. For many years she enjoyed opening her home to host a weekly Bible study where she developed many strong and lasting relationships. Ilona, never having idle hands, often spent her pastime knitting beautiful scarves and garments, many of which she donated to those affected by cancer. She especially loved working in her large back yard tending and caring for her many plants, cactus and flowers. Her plants flourished with her loving care; she delighted in entertaining her family and friends in her beautiful outdoor environment. Ilona was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren held a special tenderness in her heart. She was dedicated in attending all sports and school functions and capturing their lives in beautiful scrapbooks for their lasting memories. She is survived by her husband John Brooks of Livermore, son Michael Stutchman and his two daughters Michaela and Mackenzie of Dublin, son Bryan Stutchman and wife Marianne of Dublin and their son Josh and wife Gina of Reno, daughter Elaine and husband Derek Stirtz and sons Matthew Stirtz and Devan Kammerman of Oakland, stepson Joshua Brooks and wife Ria and of San Ramon and Joshua's daughter Chloe who attends Pacific Union College in Angwin Ca, and stepdaughter Jessica Brooks who resides in Vallejo. The celebration of Ilona's life will be held at Celebration Christian Center, 1135 Bluebell Drive Livermore CA on May 10 at 4 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice, Dublin, California or to a charity of your choice.
