Ida "Flo" Florene Anderson's Obituary
Ida “Flo” Florene Anderson
August 25, 1923 – January 13, 2020
Heaven became a little brighter on January 13th as Ida “Flo” Anderson went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Ida, or as most knew her, Flo, was born in Higginsville, Missouri to Harvey and Sarah Dennis. She lived in Missouri until she met and married the love of her life, Ray Anderson, in 1942. The couple relocated a few times before settling down in Hayward, CA, where they raised 5 children. In 1983 Ray and Flo retired to Amador County.
Flo dearly loved Amador County because of its beauty and all of the wonderful friends that became family to her. She always said to those she met, “You are family now”, and she truly meant it. She was an avid bowler clear up until she had to stop due to a broken hip at the age of 91. She also loved going to garage sales where she could meet new people and find unique treasures. She enjoyed playing cards and games, but most of all spending time with those she loved.
Throughout her lifetime she had several careers such as a switchboard operator and window dresser back in Missouri in the early 1940’s. In the Bay Area she worked as a cake decorator, then for the Unemployment Dept. and retired from The Bureau of Automotive Repair. In Amador County she enjoyed volunteering for Sutter Amador Auxiliary and served on various committees.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, her loving husband Ray, her oldest son John, and great-granddaughter Meghan Lizama. She is survived by her children: daughter, Linda Anderson (Jim Prange), son, Robert Anderson, son, Mark Anderson (Patricia), daughter, Amy Martz (Tony), and daughter-in-law Joan. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
During Flo’s 96 years she touched so many lives that she will always be remembered as someone who truly loved everyone with all of her heart. She was a loving wife, the best mom ever, devoted grandmother, and the dearest of friends. Her welcoming and loving spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
