Homer L. McGinley's Obituary
Homer was born on July 7th 1925 in Monterose, Colorado to his parents Daniel Hobart McGinley and Connie Constantine Zike. As a young man, Homer served in the US Army during the 2nd World War in the 11th Armored Infantry Battalion and was an honorable discharged sergeant after the War in 1946. Later, Homer worked as a truck driver for Mayflower, a moving company in Sterling, Colorado for 11 years. For his “reward,” he found his lovely wife, Emily, whom he married in 1957. The couple decided to move to California where most of Emily’s family lived. For the sake of his love for his lovely wife, Homer quit his truck driving job because it most of the time took him away from the woman he dearly loved. After passing the US Post Office examination, Homer was employed in 1965 as Mail Deliverer. He served the US Post Office for 25 years and retired in 1990 only to begin one of the best careers of his dream—Unconditional Love to his one and only wife, Emily! The couple bought a mobile home and traveled (along with Evelyn, Homer’s sister), across the Eastern States and Canada and down South to key states in the West for 3 months of solid love and joy-ride!Until the last breath of Emily in July this year, Homer demonstrated in his neighborhood and wherever they went what intimate marriage looked like. Homer treated his wife like a Princess—an admirable and fun to watch, especially in summer and winter Homer was also a hardworking man and knew how to fix anything—from electronics, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, gardening, to baking and of course, cooking! Homer’s Bakery was special, especially, for those closest to him. Had he owned a Bakery, his name would have gone into the Guinness Book of Records! Homer often baked and delivered free of charge to some of his neighbors.Homer never gives up on anything! Even in final days, he was still eager to go to work…but His Creator decided it was time for his final REST—to return home—to join his lovely wife, Emily!
