In her young adulthood, she owned and ran a modeling agency in San Francisco and encouraged the industry to accept more bi-racial and plus sized models. Holly also encouraged Macy’s to start misses and petites business apparel lines to help give women more confidence in the workplace. While in San Francisco, she was responsible for organizing a candlelight vigil for John Lennon, as well as for promoting local events with Bill Graham Productions, with her then-husband Robert Altman. She was fortunate to live in the Mill Valley area, where one of her neighbors was the famous musician Carlos Santana. She reminisced over listening to his music as it echoed through the hills when he practiced playing the guitar. In the 1980’s, she met and married her current husband, John (Dan) Rogers, and began one of her more cherished roles – mom. She had Brooke Rogers and Natalie (Alie) Rogers in the early 80’s. When Dan and Holly decided to have one more child, they were both surprised and blessed to have twins, Ashley and Clayton Rogers. Holly was a stay-at-home mother, active in every aspect of raising her children. Her car was deemed “Mom’s Taxi,” as she transported everyone to and from school, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, swim practices, T-ball, dance, band and every possible after-school event that her children wished to participate in. She regularly volunteered for school events and was well-known throughout the New Haven Unified School District. She was an instrumental member of the Race and Ethnic Committee; contributed to the creation of the breakfast program throughout the district and the James Logan High School Student Health Center. In addition to the support of children and their education, she was an active member of the community. She was a founding member of the Fairway Park Neighborhood Association and took on such tasks as organizing an earthquake preparedness seminar with the USGS, and was a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member. She also helped write the HazMat Plan with the Hayward Fire Department and assisted the Hayward Police Department with candidate interviews. She tirelessly fought to protect open space and to beautify Hayward. She worked to defend endangered species’ habitats, especially for burrowing owls and native snakes. She worked with the developers of the Mission Hills Golf Course to design and ensure there was a golf course and driving range for the public, instead of additional homes within a gated community. When Holly officially returned to the workforce, she enjoyed her job as a bookkeeper for the Treeview Swim Club. Through this role, she met hundreds of members of the community and encouraged them not only to use the beautiful pool services, but to also spend quality time with their families. Following this, Holly revived her dream to once again be a small business owner. She began to create, restore and re-purpose retail items to sell at The Cottage Charm in Niles, CA. She loved expressing her artistic side, being business-savvy and working closely with the ladies at the store.Holly loved listening to music, going to concerts, traveling, going to the beach, eating delicious food, reading, crafts, needlepoint, spending time with her family and laughing. She will always be known for her positive mind, strong spirit, commitment to the environment and community, and her love and support for her family. She will be deeply missed by all.“Keep Smilin’!”The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National Wildlife Federation to help them plant new trees in 2014 (http://bit.ly/16HF9b3), or, the Sulphur Creek Nature Center (www.haywardrec.org/sulphurcreek.html).
