Herminio Dimaano's Obituary
Herminio Dimaano, 79, of Castro Valley, CA, passed away on October 13, 2019. Hermie, son of the late Herminio Dimaano, Sr and Marcella Bunales Dimaano, was born in San Juan, Batangas, Philippines on October 6, 1940. He enlisted in the US Navy, which brought him from the Philippines to the United States – where he met and married Mimi, the love of his life, on October 31, 1970. Hermie retired from 20 years of military service with the US Navy and followed that with a 32 year civil service career with the US Post Office. He was a founding member of Fil-Am, the Filipino-American Veterans Association, and he had a passion for family, sports, and cooking. His prime rib is legendary among family, close friends, and anyone lucky enough to have eaten it. Hermie is survived by his wife Mimi, sons Eric and Christian, daughter Jillian, and grandchildren Andrew, Cameron, and Charlie, in addition to his brother Edwin, and sisters Annabel and Marivic. He will be dearly missed by all, including his large extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.Memorial services to be held on Sunday, October 20th and on Monday, October 21st, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 10:00am at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Castro Valley, CA followed by final interment at Chapel of the Chimes.
