Henry James Paulo's Obituary
Union City, CA - Henry James Paulo left this earthly home on Monday, April 24,
2023, passing peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born March 6, 1946 in San
Francisco, CA.
Henry was raised in San Leandro, CA, where he enjoyed hunting for tadpoles in
the local creek as a child, eating fresh fruits and vegetables from his grandparents’
yard, playing baseball from the time he was young, and cruising the East Bay with
his buddies. He attended Arroyo High School, and enlisted directly in the U.S.
Army in 1963, serving four years overseas and two years in the Army Reserves.
Henry met and married the love of his life, Dianne, in 1969. Together they raised
two children in Union City, CA and were happily married for fifty-four years. They
enjoyed neighborhood block parties, bowling, living room dance parties with
Dianne’s siblings, coaching their kids’ sports teams, Bingo and Poker nights with
good friends, and going to Candlestick Park to cheer on the Giants and, of course,
the 49ers…they were season ticket holders for 30 years! The neighborhood kids
remember him as the kind, fun dad who played baseball with them in the cul-desac and hauled them all to the park in his pickup truck.
Henry was a hardworking and faithful Union Sheet Metal Worker, retiring after 30
years. During his well-deserved retirement, he enjoyed playing golf several times
a week, following the PGA and all the NFL teams, finding new dishes to cook up,
and traveling the country with his wife and visiting their good friends along the
way. Henry especially enjoyed finding new golf courses to play, visiting historical
sites, and scoping out restaurants highlighted on the Food Network during these
trips.
Henry is survived by his wife, Dianne, children Ron and his wife, Michele, and
Shannon and her husband, Michael. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry
and Angelina Paulo. He will forever be missed, especially by his family, who has
always known him to be full of integrity, intelligent, funny, hard-working, loving,
down to earth, supportive of their aspirations, and always there for them.
