Helen Madge Wells' Obituary
Helen Madge Wells peacefully passed away after 13 years of battling cancer on the morning of Friday, March 6, 2020, with the love of her family surrounding her. She was born on July 13, 1959 in Oceanside, CA, grew up in her early years in New England, and moved with her family to Fremont, CA in 1974. She graduated from Kennedy High School and received a business degree from Ohlone College. She worked for years with Motorola as a purchaser and a buyer, ending her career with Lucky’s Supermarket in the produce department.
Helen was a private person, who loved life and caring for others. Her life was marked by the Fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. She enjoyed playing the clarinet and performing with the Newark Symphony Winds, volunteering at the local Tri-City Food Bank and Free Breakfast Program at Irvington Presbyterian Church. She faithfully cared for her mother, sacrificing her own goals and personal pursuits for her mother’s needs and comfort, daily having a Bible study with her mom. It was not unusual for Helen to bring brownies to the patients and nurses on Chemo-therapy days, and she adopted joy through the trials of the cancer.
Helen is survived by her mother, Mrs. Virgie Wells, along with her two sisters, Rebecca Milligan and Jacquelyn Kacinski, and her two brothers, Timothy Wells and David Wells, along with their spouses and children. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Kenneth Wells, and older brother, Delbert Wells.
Her legacy of caring for her mother and others before herself will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met. Share your stories of remembrance on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA from 1:30 - 3 p.m
