Helen L. Bennett a Castro Valley, California resident entered into rest Sunday, January 19, 2003 in Castro Valley. Born in Monroe, LA on July 6, 1932, she was 70 years of age. She owned and operated a bar called ' Pearl Harbor Bar' in West Oakland for 20 years. She also worked as a forklift operator for the Safeway Warehouse in Fremont for 17 years. She was a member of the Teamsters.Dearly beloved wife of Robert Bennett for 54 years. Loving mother of Joan Bennett, John & Evelyn Bennett, Tony & Rita Bennett and Brook Bennett all of Oakland. Dear sister of Ellen Sears of Ruston, LA, Anita Reynolds of Monroe, LA, Inez Cleveland of Bowmont, TX, Myrtle Williams of Simsboo, LA, Arlessie Bunks of Richmond, CA, Claiborne Jackson and Wordie Jackson of Houston, TX. Devoted grandmother of six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two brothers, McClary and Curtis Jackson, preceded her in death.Visitation will be held Sunday, January 12, 2003 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. with a Vigil at 8:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 27, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Church; 4000 East Castro Valley Blvd., Castro Valley, CA 94552.
