Harvey Cavalier of Hayward passed away at his home on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 66 years June, children Diane Garcia, Susan (Jerry), David Cavalier & David Hughes of Oregon, grandchildren Rick Strock (Sheri), Gene & Leah Church, & Kyle Cavalier. Many loving nieces & nephews also survive him. Harvey's greatest passion's in life was fishing, camping, & collecting classic 'Hot Rods'. He became a member of The Lightning Rods & Castro Valley Cruisers & Car Clubs. He loved attending car shows throughout the Bay Area and hanging with his best buddy 'Bill' and his other car club buddies. You would find Harvey on Thursday's at Elios Restaurant in San Leandro, & the annual Hayward Street Party & Car Show. He never ever passed up a Casper's Hot Dog or a Val's Burger. His sense of humor was incredible, he never ran out of jokes to tell or pass up an opportunity to pull a prank on anyone at anytime, and when he got you good, his face would light up, & his laugh was quite contagious. Harvey was born and raised in Oakland where he attended school and graduated from Fremont High. He worked at the Oakland Airport for many years, & later worked for EBMUD where he retired from after 26 dedicated years. Never has there been a better husband, father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, friend and most of all a better man. Harvey always lent a hand to help anyone at anytime of the day or night no matter what was needed. The legacy of which he leaves with us will be forever held dear to our hearts and souls. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Harvey's family would like to send a special 'Thank You' to the staff of Golden Homes Services for all the love and care they gave to their father during his final days.
