Mr Harry Harden Johnson JR's Obituary
Harry H. Johnson Jr., at the age of 72, transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 17, 1943 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Harry H. Johnson Sr. and Goldina Bell Johnson, the 2nd of seven children.After graduating from Dunbar High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and serving 6 years in the Navy; Harry continued his career with the Department of the Navy as a civilian. He worked at the Concord Naval Weapon Station in Concord, California and retired as a Marine Cargo Supervisor after 35 years of government service.Harry was a 55-year resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. Most of that time was spent in Union City, California with Rozella, his wife of 44 years.Harry will be remembered as a diehard Raider fan and a “tough guy” with a “soft side” complemented with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. His generosity extended beyond those known to him. He will continue to fill our hearts as he did a room. He was and will continue to be, as he loved to say, “truly wonderful!”He was preceded in death by his father, Harry H. Johnson Sr., brother, William “Bill” Johnson and sister, Clarice L. Price.Surviving are his wife, Rozella Johnson of Union City, CA; Daughters, Harriette K. Johnson, Suisun, CA, Yvette Johnson-Corey(Ronald), Bothell, WA, Kendra Hanes of Las Vegas, NV, and Lurita Hanes, Stockton, CA; Son, Luther G. Hanes (Carmen), Hayward, CA; Mother, Goldina Bell Johnson, Okmulgee, OK; Sisters, Andrea Stewart (Johnny Sr.) Humboldt, TN, JoAnn Farmer, Hephzibah, GA, MaryAnn “Maliaka” Wiles (Leon) Moore, SC, Beverly K. Jordan, Broken Arrow, OK; 12 Grandchildren – 9 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
