Hargobind Singh's Obituary
Our Beloved Lt. Col. Hargobind Singh of Dublin, CA passed away on Tuesday, April 26th 2016 after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 89 years old. He is survived by Pammi, his wife of 59 years, his daughters Anu, Anji and Geet, and predeceased by his beloved daughter Ritu. He also leaves behind seven beautiful grandchildren Simar, Ranjodh, Veera, Alam, Vijit, Seeret and Tegh. He had a long and illustrious career in the Indian army, where he served with bravery and distinction, for which he was awarded various medals and service awards. His second career began in the U.S., when, to support his family and ease their transition to a new place he worked in Security services. There too he was recognized and loved for a superior work ethic and dedication to his job. He was an honest, upright, principled, ethical and forthright person who spoke the truth without fear of reprimand or reprisal. A devoted husband and father, he worked tirelessly to ensure that his family did not want for food or shelter, especially after arriving in the U.S. Gentle and self-effacing, he never imposed upon anyone, be it family or friends. Instead, he chose to reach out with a helping hand to all and mentored many people in need. He loved Dogs and his passionate love for reading gave him an encyclopedic knowledge of the world. His passing has left a huge void in our lives, and shoes that are hard to fill. We miss him dearly. May his spirit be free of worldly burdens and may his soul rest in peace.
