HARCHARAN SABHARWAL's Obituary
Harcharan “Channi” Singh Sabharwal was born on August 30, 1939 to Ram Labhai & Amrik Singh Sabharwal. He was the third of five children with an older brother and sister and a younger brother and sister. Harcharan’s childhood was a trying time as his father, a lawyer, passed away when Harcharan was only 4 years old. His widowed mother then had to flee the Partition with 5 young children. They barely made it across. After consistently being at the top of his class, he received a scholarship to study engineering in Germany. While there, he met his beautiful wife, Ursula, and they were married and had their first child, Sunena. He only wanted the best education, so he continued his adventure to seek out a Masters in Industrial Engineering at UC Berkeley. In Berkeley, he and his small family made many lifelong friends and so they settled in the Bay Area. Two more children followed – Sunita & Simran. After becoming an entrepreneur, Harcharan then fulfilled his dream of building a house in Saratoga where he spent the rest of his life enjoying the view of the mountains, taking a walk every day and keeping healthy.Over the last 8 years, Channi enjoyed being a grandfather to Maya (8), Sophie (6), Rylan (1.5), and Evie (1.5). His grandchildren were his pride and joy; he loved them with all his heart and only wanted the best for them. He is survived by his wife, three children, 4 siblings and 4 grandchildren.
