Gurdeep Kaur's Obituary
Gurdeep Kaur Gill was born on July 23rd 1935 in Kaunke Kalan, Punjab in a farming family. She finished her school education in 1951. Shortly thereafter, she was married to Late Sardar, Master Jaswant Singh Gill of village Chuhar Chak, Moga. She gave birth to two sons Parminder Singh Gill and Lakhwinder Singh Gill and to three daughters Harinderpal Kaur Sandhu, Surinderpal Kaur Kaila, and Rajinderpal Kaur Sidhu.
She gave all of her children a great environment to get an education and achieve success on all fronts of life. After tragically losing her husband in 1988 and her oldest son in 1989, she stayed strong and continued to raise her children. She fully took on the household responsibilities and had a great relationship with her mother-in-law, whom she dearly cared for during her end stages of life.
She was very strong willed, patient, resilient, and had unwavering faith in Guru Sahib. All this helped her to cope with the tragedies of life. She was always seen with a loving smile, always loved going back to her motherland and was very well loved and respected by family back home. She was very soft spoken and caring. She moved to the US in 2001 where she helped raise her grandchildren. She became Amritdhari in 2009. Gurdeep Kaur loved going to Gurdwara Sahib every day and inspired other family members to attend as well.
Gurdeep Kaur overcame several serious health issues in the past. Unfortunately, after sustaining a hip fracture from falling, she was consistently in and out of the hospital. She was very well cared for during this time.
Gurdeep Kaur passed away on the afternoon of March 9th 2022 surrounded by her loved ones with her beloved Sukhmani Sahib bani being recited.
She is survived by her son Lakhwinder Singh Gill, daughter-in-law Satnam Kaur Gill, 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Gurdeep Kaur will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.
