Grover Low's Obituary
Grover Low April 16, 1923 – Aug. 15, 2009 Resident of San Leandro Grover was born in San Francisco to parents Low See You and Lee Shee. As a boy, he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 3 in San Francisco, the first Scout Troop in Chinatown. Later, he attended Galileo High School before serving his country during World War II as a corporal in the Army’s 1111th Counter-Intelligence Corps. He was stationed at bases across the US and South Korea. Following his service and under the GI Bill, he attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1950 with a B.A. in Business Administration. In 1965 he married his soulmate Mathilde. Together, they traveled to Europe, China, and Tahiti. Eventually, they made their home in the East Bay where they raised two children and were happily married until Mathilde’s passing in 1996. Friends and loved ones will remember Grover for his kindness, patience and modest ways; his family will dearly miss weekly dinners and watching 60 Minutes together on Sundays. Grover is survived by his daughter, Darlene and her husband Bill, son Donald and his wife Elaine, and grandchildren Natalie and Wesley. Friends and family are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 at 10 AM at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
