Gordon Abbott Johnson's Obituary
Gordon Abbott Johnson Resident of Hayward, CA age 85, was an avid fisherman Gordon Johnson was born and raised in Oakland, California. After completing high school, Gordon joined the Merchant Marines and traveled much of the world. He was drafted by the Army in 1948 and was subsequently stationed in Japan. In 1952, Gordon returned home and started a tool and die apprenticeship, which, thereafter, became his livelihood. He met his wife, Margit Larsen, in 1956, and they married in 1957. Together, they moved to Hayward, California and became lifelong residents. There they had a son, Dennis Johnson, in 1960. Gordon retired in 1986 and enjoyed 25 years of retirement, during which he enjoyed spending time with his family and being “Mr. Fix-it” for his neighbors. Gordon was also an exceptional gunsmith and an avid fisherman. After a brief battle with cancer, Gordon peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his son. A visitation for Gordon will be held on January 6th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward. Family and friends are invited to attend.
