Gilca Mota Barreto's Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Gilca Mota Barreto on April 28, 2020 in San Leandro, California.
Gilca was born in Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 24, 1940. She and husband Manuel (Nino) Barreto moved to California in 1969 and raised their family. Gilca worked as a teacher in the San Leandro School district when she retired.
Gilca enjoyed music and dancing, birds and animals, and was devoted to her family. She and loving husband were always the first on the dance floor and in their younger days the last to leave. Gilca loved to dance and sing while dancing. A special bird would come and feed from her hand while they sat in their car at Alameda Beach. She brought many injured animals back to life as she cared for them. She held her family and children as her highest priority.
Gilca is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Manuel (Nino) Barreto, their three children, Andrea Barreto Mitro (Mark), Ana Paula Barreto, Daniel Barreto (Cindy), their two grandchildren, Omar Barreto (Megan), Sadie Barreto, and their great-grandchild June Justus Barreto.
Private Memorial Service will be held on May 6th due to current health restrictions. ofound sadness we announce the passing of Gilca Mota Barreto on April 28, 2020 in San Leandro, California.
