Geraldine Michaelis

San Lorenzo, CA ? Geraldine (Gerry) Michaelis, nee Trettin, a long-time resident of the San Lorenzo area, died Tuesday the 13th of June at her home in her sleep of natural causes. Born on October 10, 1932 in Tulare, CA., Gerry and her family moved to Hayward, California at a young age where she attended Bret Harte School before continuing on to Hayward High. Gerry met the love of her life, Richard Michaelis, while working at Glass Containers in Hayward, CA. They married on June 24, 1961 in a small ceremony in Carson City Nevada. Gerry and Richard had three children and traveled extensively in their motorhome throughout Northern California and Oregon. They were very happily married until his death in 2004. Gerry loved Elvis Presley music, word search puzzles and TV Food Network. Family was very important to Gerry and always looked forward to holidays, special occasions and any reason to get together with loved ones. Gerry was a kind, caring, compassionate, loving, generous and accepting mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, daughter, cousin and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Lynn Decker of San Lorenzo, CA, sons Bryan Richard of Livermore, CA and Brad Lee of San Leandro, CA. Five grandchildren, Carrie Camacho, William Decker, Garon, Jared and Megan and three great grandchildren Jacob Decker, Elisa Camacho and Aulani Decker all of whom live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and whom she loved deeply and brought great joy to her life. Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Hayward California has been entrusted with final arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 20, 5 PM Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 10 AM
