Geraldine Jun Lin Akau Lum's Obituary
Geraldine Jun Lin Akau Lum aka (Geri) passed away peacefully on February 13th 2021 from complications of Dementia and COPD in a Nursing home in Hayward, California.
Geri was born to James Pohaku Akau and Etta Kam Moi Lum on December 12th, 1943 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She lived 14 years of her life growing up there and always felt like Hawaii was her home.
She had fond memories of her schooling, friends, the boy next door and hula lessons from her early life in Hawaii.
She married the late Ronald Kealoha and together they had 2 son’s the late (Ronald Jr) (Ronny Boy) and (Paul) and lived in Seattle Washington. She moved from Seattle to Sunny California to have a new start in life and met Omar Tejada together they had a daughter (Penny) that she lovingly placed for adoption and after 32 years was re-united.
Later she married Claude Bouligny and together had their daughter (Rochelle). She met and married Elliot Lum which she later divorced.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved teaching them of the Hawaiian culture. She loved singing and playing Hawaiian music on her ukulele.
Geri is survived by her son, Paul Kelua Kealoha of California, daughter, Penny Elizabeth Kalealani Child of Utah, daughter Rochelle Marie Leimomi Demello of California (who along with her daughter Leimomi lovingly cared for her the last several years of her life). Siblings, Sister, Beatrice (Tita) Jun Chin Akau Hewlen of Hawaii brother, Wesley Jun Leong Akau of California and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she was very proud of.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Hayward Health and Wellness for their kindness and care during the last few months of her life. They were so good about helping her with FaceTime since she could not have visitors due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
She was preceded in death by her first born son Ronald Kealoha Jr. (Ronnie Boy), parents, James Pohaku Akau and Etta Kam Moi Lum, her brothers, James Jun Kong Akau (Chunny) and his wife Nadine Haitsuka, Gordon Jun Hoon Akau and his wife Britta VanDer Vegt, Brother-in Law Herbert Sun Mung Kalena Hew Len, Grandson, Jeremy Edward Nielson Child and Great Grandson, Adrian Sean Gamble.
We will be having a Celebration of Life service on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. (PST). Due to the states COVID-19 guidelines we have a limited capacity of attendees.
