Georgie Swinhart's Obituary
Georgie Swinhart, aged 90 years of Dublin, CA passed away June 1, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Kaiser Walnut Creek. She was born September 24th 1922 in Russellville, AR to the late Willie and Gertrude Kinslow. She moved to California in 1945 to follow the crops and pick fruit. Amongst other jobs she spent several years selling Avon door to door.Later in life she worked with her sons, daughter-in-laws and some grandchildren at Windmill Farms Produce in San Ramon, CA where she was co-owner. She endeared herself to many employees and customers over the years and was known to all to be a tough, no non-sense woman with a kind heart and a keen mind. Georgie was an avid fisherman who loved camping and waterskiing. She did a lot of craft work in her life making many quilts, ceramic figures, country folk art and Christmas decorations (much of which was sold at her store). Her favorite pastime was playing card games with family and completing hundreds of jigsaw puzzles. But more than anything she just loved spending time with her family, most of which were blessed to live in the same town as her and would visit frequently, if not daily. She was a rare person who was happy with the simple things and touched the lives of those around her in a way that will never be forgotten. To us, she was more than a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother; she was also a great friend and someone that we chose to spend a lot of time with because we wanted to.Georgie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Orrin Swinhart; (preceeded in death by her first husband, Ruben Smith); sisters, Alice (Charles) Jobe; Mary (J.R., deceased) Ashmore; sons Lester (Linda) Smith; Earl (Raylene) Smith and Leroy (Janie) Smith; (their late father Ruben Smith); grandchildren Alan (Ann) Smith; Carol (Ottie) Benavidez; Lincoln Smith; Tamara (Christopher) Puzio; Jason (Crystal) Smith; Melissa Tripod; great grandchildren Freddy Benavidez; Daniel (Valerie) Smith; Megan Smith; Layla Tripod; Victoria Tripod; Lincoln Smith jr.; loving nieces, nephews and other family members; and her cat, Angel.Visitation was held on Monday June 10, 2013, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, at Chapel of the Chimes Reflection Chapel, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544. Burial followed at 12:00 Noon, at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, located adjacent to the funeral home.“A wife, a mother, a grandma too, this is the legacy we have from you. You taught us love and how to fight; you gave us strength, you gave us might. A stronger person would be hard to find, and in your heart, you were always kind. You fought for us all in one way or another, not just as a wife, not just as a mother. For all of us you gave your best, now the time has come for you to rest.So go in peace, you've earned your sleep; your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.”
