George C Romero's Obituary
George C. Romero, of Hayward, California, passed away at the age of 77 on January 22, 2017 at Kaiser Walnut Creek. George is survived by his wife of 47 years Olivia Romero, and his two daughters Elba and Denise, and his grandchildren Andrew, Erika, and Alexa. He was born and raised in Sacramento, California to Belverto and Pauline Romero on September 2, 1939.Mr. Romero was a Veteran of the Vietnam war and served both in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. During the time he served he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Driver Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. After serving his time in the military he moved to Oakland, California where he met and married his wife, Olivia.George C. Romero was a dedicated man both in his career and with his family. George worked for the U.S. Government as a Senior Customs Inspector for the U.S. Department of the Treasury U.S. Customs Service. He held his position in the government for 40 years. One of his many proud moments in his career was when he and his team were awarded the Secretary of the Treasury Award in Washington D.C. for seizing a record-breaking drug bust in 1992.Mr Romero was recognized as a very humble and simple man. His passions included fishing, hunting and camping. Annually, he looked forward to deer hunting with his hunting buddies and son in law .He also enjoyed spending time at the gun range.He will be missed fondly by all family and friends.
