George E. Mate a Hayward, California resident entered into rest February 24, 2003 in Castro Valley, California. Born in Chicago, Illinois on February 6, 1910, he was 93 years of age. He formally lived in Cicero, Illinois for 37 years. Graduate of Harrison High School, Chicago. He was an Insurance agent for 47 years. U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. Lifetime member Chicago Federation of Musicians, American Legion, Board of Directors of Cicero Public Library for 24 years, Selective Service Board for 8 years and Cicero Water Commissioner for 8 years. Loyal order of the Moose and the Masons. He loved bowling, fishing, piano and Czech food.Dearly beloved husband of Amelia Mate for 60 years. Loving father of George J. Mate of Oakland, California. Dear brother of Jack Mate of Park Ridge, Illinois. Devoted grandfather of one grandchild. Visitation will be held Monday, March 3, 2003 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Friends are welcome to attend a Funeral service Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the Reflection Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
