Franklin Leroy Lance's Obituary
April 28, 1924 – Jan. 3, 2008 Franklin Leroy Lance was born on April 28, 1924 in Avant, Oklahoma. He is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Betty Lance. Frank was a Navy veteran of WWII and served on the USS Schroeder DD501 in the South Pacific. He worked at GE in Oakland for 33 years before retiring at age 55. He and his wife settled in Grass Valley for a while before traveling the country in his RV for 10 years. For the last 9 years, he lived in Union City to be near his family. Frank enjoyed life and was involved in many activities and hobbies. Taking to the sea in his later years, he and some friends once sailed a yacht boat from SF to Washington. Frank’s daughters and many grandchildren love camping, boating, and fishing as a result of his enjoyment of the outdoors and adventurous camping trips. He also volunteered time as a wrestling couch at NUH high school. Frank was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He gave all of his heart to everyone, and in return, was loved dearly by everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his two daughters, Sheryld Velasco of Union City and Lori Nichols of Chickasha, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. A Viewing will be held on Sunday, 1/11/09 from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, 1/12 at 1:30pm.
