Frank Jesus Padia-Caparros' Obituary
Frank passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, on the afternoon of Monday, June 5th, from complications with the heart and kidneys. Frank leaves behind the family that he devoted his life to. He is survived by his loving husband of 14 years (22 years together), Rene Anthony. He also left behind his brothers Michael, Robert (Cathy), Mark Sr. (Diane), Donald, Ralph, Bryan (Jeanny), sister-in-law Lorna Padia-Markus, brother-in-law Benedict Caparros (Abigail), and sister-in-law Annariza Brigham (Scott). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and William and brother William Edward. Also upon his passing, he was greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by all of his “fur babies”, including his eldest dog Bella, cats Cagney and Lacey, and dogs Oscar, Daisy, Annabella and Holly.
Frank was born and raised in San Francisco, CA, the sixth oldest of eight boys. He graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco in 1982. He studied accounting at City College of San Francisco. He worked many jobs over the years, including the Bar on Castro, JCPenney, Lowe’s and Dolby Laboratories. He met many life-long friends at these jobs.
In 2001, Frank met Rene in San Francisco. Rene pursued Frank while he was working as a bouncer at the Bar on Castro. Frank agreed to go on a date shortly afterwards and had been together ever since. They relocated to San Jose, CA in 2003. Later that same year, Rene proposed to Frank at Disneyland in front of the Wishing Well in Snow White’s Grotto by Sleeping Beauty’s castle. In 2008, while it was still briefly legal in California, they got married at Summit pointe Country Club in Milpitas, with less than a month’s worth of planning. Even with such a short notice, they managed to get married with over 150 people to witness this historic event. In 2015, Frank and Rene moved to their forever home in Hayward, CA. Together, they hosted many parties, including the most popular, annual tamale party during the holidays.
During his later years, although Frank was doing dialysis three to four times a week, he still managed to live his life by getting together with friends and family whenever he could. He also loved to crochet in front of the television, while watching his Asian dramas and home improvement shows. Although Frank and Rene didn’t watch many shows together, in recent years, they always made sure to watch RuPaul’s Drag Race.
On Saturday, September 16th, 2023, family and friends will be celebrating his life at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fremont, CA at 1:30pm for a Memorial Mass, followed by a reception lunch at World Gourmet Chinese Buffet in Fremont, CA shortly afterwards.
