Franco Mamerto's Obituary
Franco B. Mamerto, was born on July 14, 1937 in Tanjay Negros Oriental in the Philippines, a gem of a province as he described it. His parents were Martin and Flavia Mamerto. He was the 2nd of 4 children. His siblings are George, Aida and Dan.Frank attended Arellano High School. Earned an Associate Degree at Adamson University in Manila, Philippines. Prided himself as a working student, holding a full time job while in school to subsidize his education but most importantly, to provide for the family.Frank began his career as a Pressman and retired from this trade in 2012. Early on he discovered he had a talent in this line of work. Employed by prestigious printing companies throughout his career- Community Publishing and US Embassy Office of General Services (both in the Philippines), ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company (in Saudi Arabia), and California Office of State Printing (in the U.S.) where he retired after serving 23 years.Upon retirement, Frank occupied himself with Senior Learning. He enrolled for a couple of semesters for Computer Courses at the San Leandro Adult School, and Ballroom Dancing (a favorite past time). And, with a love for exploring the world, he along with wife Lina has travelled to Europe, key cities in the US and the Philippines.Frank made it his mission to serving the Church Community. A Deputy Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus. An active member of The Filipino and Adult Contemporary Choirs, and of the Pastoral Council. Frank with his spouse, Lina spearheaded a Fund Raising Casino Trip and has become a 3X Year activity, with proceeds benefitting needs of the Parish, Filipino Community and The Knights of Columbus.Frank is a man with simple needs and pleasures. Always an optimist with a “Yes, We Can Do This!” attitude and generous to a fault.He is survived by his wife, Lina and daughter Jenny; his brother Dan; Sisters-in-law Ester, Lillie, Irene and Helen; Nieces Bessie, Cherry, Cynthia, Fe and Jet; Nephews Jeff, Francis, Neil, Marvin, Ryan and Timmy and friends whom he embraced as Family. He will be missed by all. But, his Legacy will live on.
